Do you remember the joy of your first carousel ride?

What made that ride so special? Was it the sound of the organ music, the rush to find the “perfect” animal, or the motion that invited you to close your eyes as you galloped across a field?

The Children’s Creativity Museum’s carousel evokes that same feeling everyday. A gateway experience in our Imagine-Create-Share creativity cycle, our historic Looff carousel calls the young - and the young-at-heart! - to let their imaginations soar.

A symbol of the spirit and resilience of San Francisco...

Commissioned in 1904 and recognized as a signature attraction at San Francisco’s Playland at the Beach (1913 - 1972), our carousel was renamed in 2014 in honor of San Francisco Redevelopment Commissioner and civil rights advocate LeRoy King.
